Marriage is one of the oldest human traditions. The union of man and woman creates a
new cell and both unite in a lawful and social relation to set up a family. Family is the
nucleus of the society and its happiness depends on the well preparation for marriage. The
marriage is not a simple ceremony or it is not for satisfaction of sexual urge. Unity and
indissolubility are the essential properties of marriage. With children born of marital
union, the couple finds a paradise in the house. The children bring to the family joy,
prosperity and unity. Unfortunately the value of marriage and family is underestimated in
many societies, especially in the Western societies. Saint John Paul II who is also called
as the Father of the Families had unceasingly fought for the protection of value of
marriage and family through his conferences, homilies and talks. He visited all parts of
the world, encountered different groups of people and insisted on the responsibility of
each and every one to protect the institution of marriage and family. This book is a
collection of his thoughts delivered on various occasions.
